Last week was busy and filled with activities with Cade’s
school. On Wednesday night, I enjoyed a Mum’s Dinner at a beautiful restaurant overlooking
the ocean on Balmoral Beach. Almost all
40+ Mums from Mosman Prep attended. I loved seeing so many Moms arrive in taxis
carrying their bottles of wine. Most
restaurants in Sydney are BYO. It was a
fun and relaxing evening.
Saturday was the Father Son camp at a YMCA campsite about
75 minutes away at the base of the Blue Mountains. The boys went rock climbing and Cade was
proud to make it to the top. Apparently,
Matt was scolded by the ranger for making a campfire that was too large. How quickly his Eagle Scout days return. I don’t think anyone got much sleep.
Since we only have one car as Matt takes the
bus into the city every day, Paige and I were without a car during the
weekend. We walked and explored all of
Mosman and enjoyed a ladies lunch outside at a café where there was a live
acoustic guitarist playing. The boys
left early on Sunday morning as Matt had to catch a flight back to Kansas City
for a one day meeting (crazy!). Sunday was a perfect day, and once the kids
woke up from a nap, we went to Taronga Zoo and found some new animals that we
did not discover on our first trip. We
witnessed a pretty impressive sibling chimp fight that ended with the little one
crying to his mother. We ended our visit with our favorite part; a sky safari (gondola ride) back to
the top with all of the beautiful Sydney views. We took that moment to say
how lucky we are to have this once in a lifetime experience. One of my proud Mom moments, was when I asked Cade if wanted anything for Easter
and he responded with, “Mom, we have everything we need.” Paige quietly agreed. Who is this kid, are
you kidding me?
Matt returned home on Thursday. I sent him home with an empty suitcase that
was filled on his way back with birthday presents for Paige, some our favorites
that we can’t get here and some Easter goodies.
