A White Christmas

We were lucky to get a nice big snow day in last week and Matt and Cade enjoyed snowman making and sledding.  Sydney, Australia hasn't seen snow since the 1800's, but Cade says there is still a chance.  I hope not as we did not pack any winter coats:)

There were a few sightings of snowflakes on Christmas Day so we claimed it a White Christmas.  The holidays were fun and we appreciated our families keeping our gifts small in size so we can send over on the air crate. 

Now that the Christmas fun is over, we are growing anxious to leave and get settled.  We sold my car today to a nice man who just returned from service and are now living with one vehicle.

We are looking forward to Saturday night when we get to spend time and say good bye to our closest friends.

Moving Day

Two days of movers in our house and all of our things are off to Sydney.

The movers were great and put up with our points of indecision and carefully wrapped and inventoried everything.  Our crate load was packed full.  This crate that you see goes directly on the ship and arrives in 7-9 weeks.

Thought we sold my car today, but the potential buyer's loan was not approved by the bank.  Know anyone who is looking for a great deal on a Lexus RX 350?

The kids are enjoying their first night in special beds.  We let them sleep in the same room as a special treat.  We will see how much sleep we all get tonight:)   Thank goodness Paige still can fit in her crib mattress and that we had an extra mattress.  Also, thanks to friends and family who are letting us borrow an air mattress and a set of dishes.  

This process has been good to rationalize how little we really need to live and how much space we have here in KC.  It was also a good excuse to "cleanse" and get rid of a lot of extra stuff.  

Now it is time to finish our Christmas shopping.  Cade's last day for the year at St. Michael's is Thursday.  We think his move to Sydney landed him the lead role as "Joseph" in the Christmas program last week.  We will take it!

Getting ready for the big move

First blog.  First post. 

Feeling anxious right now with so much to do.  Moving day is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.  Movers will come through our house and pack everything for the sea shipment.  We will be sleeping on air mattresses until our departure date on January 9, 2013 (less than a month away!)  We are so thankful that my brother Adam will be moving in to take care of our house and our dog, Sydney.  Yes, we named our dog eight years ago after an amazing trip to Sydney, Australia.  

So thankful that Matt had a successful preview trip last week and was able to enroll Cade in kindergarten and narrow down our home search to the Mosman area.
